Care for your Boiler this Christmas

Just like your car, your boiler needs an annual service to ensure that it is running efficiently and safely.  Looking after your boiler can save you money on your heating bills, is less likely to break down, and more importantly can save you from costly emergency service bills.

So, how can you Care for your Boiler this Christmas?

Clean the outside with a dampened cloth, then dry.

Fit a carbon monoxide detector to warn you if there is a leak.

Don’t cover your boiler of block up air vents or flues.

Don’t open the cover.  Boilers must not be tampered with.  If you suspect a problem call a registered engineer.

Not just anyone is qualified to service or repair your boiler.  For gas and LPG you need a Gas Safe registered engineer and for oil an OFTEC registered technician.

If you smell gas or think you have a gas leak, isolate your gas supply, open windows and doors.  Don’t switch any electrical appliances on or off.  Evacuate your property and call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999.
